     Oilcloth in Action

Oilcloth - 15 Minute Projects

In the Workroom..
This lamp shade, which is sold in fabric and craft stores, comes with a sticky face, a pattern and directions.

We took the pattern off of the shade, taped it onto our oilcloth, and cut with a rotary blade.

We then put the cut oilcloth piece directly on the shade onto the sticky surface.

To finish the shade, we glued a small pink trim around the top and bottom with a hot glue gun.

In the Workroom Again..
Remember those brown paper book covers that you used to have in school? This is better! Just measure, fold and you have a new book.. We measured 3 inches from the bottom and 3 inches from the top of the book for the width. The length is a bit trickier - either measure all of the way around the book and add 3+3 inches Or start at 3 inches from the edge of the oilcloth, roll the book as if you were measuring wrapping paper and then mark 3 inches further. I actually like 4 inch folds on the ends because the cover stays on better.

Fold lengthwise and press with your finger to crease.

Fold the flaps in and press with finger to crease. Tuck book cover into oilcloth pocket created by the lengthwise fold. Voila!
